Looks like Salman Khan’s discovery Daisy Shah has company. Grand Masti’s Bruna Abdullah was not really meant to be part of Jai Ho. But she has now been signed for a role created specially opposite Ashmit Patel.
A source close to the project informs, “Ashmit and Yash Tonk play Salman’s buddies. Ashmit is so close to Salman’s character in the film that he treats Salman’s mom played by Nadira Babbar as his mom and sister Tabu as his own sister. Everyone felt there was room for a romantic angle for Ashmit’s character and Bruna was brought in. She plays the girl Ashmit loves but he’s unable to express his love for her. Salman, Tabu, Nadiraji everyone teases Ashmit about his tongue-tied predicament.”
According to a source from the unit, a song featuring Ashmit and Bruna has been added to the film.
“It comes on right at the beginning of the film when there’s a rave party going on. Salman Khan is introduced in the film after the opening song,” says the source.
The climax of the film has Salman and his friends Ashmit Patel and Yash Tonk determined to save the Chief Minister’s life.
Says the source, “Mohnish Behl plays the Chief Minister. At the climax Salman has to save the CM’s life to save the state from catastrophe. It’s a very patriotic film. For the first time Salman plays a crusader fighting corrupt forces.”
The film’s family base is supposedly extra-strong. Says the source, “Salman, Tabu and Nadira Babbarji actually became like one family on the shoot. They would look after the entire unit. To be honest everyone was intimidated by Nadiraji. She is stern and no-nonsense, and not prone to mauj-masti while working. Salman is just the opposite, and there were adjustment problems in the beginning. But these were soon sorted out. Salman went that extra-mile to adjust to Nadiraji.”
As for Tabu, it’s a new avatar for her on the sets. Says the source, “We had heard she is haughty aloof and enigmatic. None of those! She is fun to be with and extremely chilled-out. The entire cast and crew warmed up to her.”
