Decade of Devotion – BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Adelaide celebrates 10th Anniversary

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide was inaugurated on April 12, 2015, by His Holiness Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, marking a significant milestone for the local community.
Located at 54-68 George Street, Green Fields serves as a center for spiritual and cultural growth, education, and community service. The BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide actively engages in community service through events like walkathons, tree plantation, clean up drives and blood donation drives.

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide, celebrated its 10th Patotsav (temple opening anniversary). The festivities commenced on the evening of 18th April with singing of bhajans & kirtans (devotional songs) by sadhus and devotees, fostering spiritual unity and devotion.

The following day, Mahila Din (Women’s Day) was observed with a vibrant cultural program. This event showcased the talents and devotion of women devotees, featuring performances such as folk dances and skits along with inspirational speeches highlighting the significance of mandir and the role of women in community and society. The program emphasized traditional values and the importance of spiritual engagement.

Additionally, the festivities included a spectacular fireworks display, adding to the celebratory atmosphere of the Patotsav (Anniversary). The fireworks illuminated the night sky, symbolizing the joy and unity of the community in marking this significant milestone.

The 10th Patotsav (temple anniversary) celebrations of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide, concluded with a Maha Puja and a special assembly in the presence of Pujya Paramchintan Swami and Sadhus, marking the culmination of the milestone event. The Mahapuja, a grand ritual of worship, was performed with immense devotion and reverence by the devotees and sadhus. This sacred ceremony is an integral part of the Patotsav celebrations, and it signifies gratitude for the blessings of the Lord and the temples’ presence in the community. It’s a time when devotees come together to pray for peace, prosperity and spiritual upliftment, offering their prayers for the continued growth of mandir.

The special assembly that followed the Mahapuja focused on reflecting on the journey of Mandir over the last 10 years, its impact on the community, and its special significance. There were speeches from Sadhus, who expressed gratitude for the growth of the mandir, shared inspiring stories of its role in uplifting spiritual lives, and reinforced the importance of unity and devotion in the community. Present amongst the distinguished guests on this occasion were Tony Zappia MP – Member for Makin, John Fulbrook MP – Member for Playford Cr. Chad Buchanan – Deputy Mayor for Central Ward, Cr Wasim Saeed –– City of Port Adelaide Enfield Cr. Surender Pal Chahal – City of West Torrens, Cr. Jagdish Lakhani – Campbelltown City Council and various community leaders.

The event concluded on a high note, with everyone united in celebration, reflecting on the blessings of having a spiritual home and looking forward to another decade of growth and devotion.
