About Barangaroo

Barangaroo is Sydney’s newest harbour foreshore playground located on the Western edge of the CBD. It is named after a powerful leader of the Cammeraygal people who played a significant role in her community and that of the early British colony. Today, Aboriginal contemporary culture is celebrated at Barangaroo through tours, artworks, events and commemorations, many of which take place in the stunning natural surrounds of Barangaroo Reserve. A spectacular, six-hectare headland featuring over 75,000 native plants created from one of the city’s oldest industrial sites.

The tranquillity of Barangaroo Reserve is complemented by Barangaroo South – the dynamic commercial and residential hub of the precinct. It features outstanding architecture, 90 world-class dining, retail and commercial spaces combined with premium waterfront public open spaces. All of which have been developed with sustainability principles at the core, making it the only certified carbon-neutral precinct in Australia.

Barangaroo is owned and managed by Placemaking NSW, the Government agency that manages, and cares for many of Sydney’s unique iconic harbourside locations including The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Luna Park, Ballast Point Park, and waterfront areas in Pyrmont, as well as unique venues such as the Chinese Garden of Friendship and major event facilities at the International Convention Centre.
