Extortion calls are nothing new in Bollywood. Many B-Town celebrities have got threat calls and recently Salman Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Farhan Azmi and Ritesh Siddhwani got extortion calls from don Ravi Pujari.
Ravi Pujari, who is said to be in Australia right now, always targeted builders and hoteliers. He got popularity in gangster world after he killed Bala Zalte, after which he joined Chhota Rajan and moved to Dubai. It is said that his men had killed builder Om Prakash Kukreja and tried to murder builder Suresh Wadhwa.
Salman Khan had got the calls in the late last year, while Farhan Akhtar, Farhan Azmi and Ritesh Siddhwani received the calls in January this year. All of them have filed a complaint about the calls to the Crime Branch, which has launched an investigation. The issue has also been bought to the notice of the Anti Terrorism Squad.
If the sources are to be believed, actor Salman Khan also had a verbal spat with the gangster over the phone. But, still Pujari is calling the four at any odd time.
Crime Branch Chief, Sadanand Date said, “I have only recently taken over. I am not aware of this case. I will call them over to my office and look into their complaints.”
Talking about the calls, Farhan Azmi said, “These calls never stop. Each time I complain to the police, the phone stops ringing for a few days. But then it starts all over again. The person calls from an unidentified number, which has been traced to Iran, and identifies himself as Ravi Pujari.”
One of the staff of Salman said, “Yes, Salman has been receiving these calls. The matter has been reported to the Crime Branch. We are aware of threat calls made to Boney Kapoor and Karan Johar. We thought approaching the cops was the best way to deal with this.”
