Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ms Jodie Haydon host Australia and India teams at Kirribilli House ahead of NRMA Insurance Pink Test

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Ms. Jodie Haydon hosted a New Year’s Day reception at Kirribilli House, welcoming the Australian and Indian men’s cricket teams ahead of the NRMA Insurance Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The fifth and final Test, starting January 3, 2025, will determine the series winner, with Australia leading 2-1. The event included representatives from Cricket Australia, the McGrath Foundation, and the High Commission of India, highlighting the strong cultural and sporting ties between the two nations.

Since its inception in 2009, the Pink Test has raised over $22 million for the McGrath Foundation, which announced its expanded mission this year to support all cancer patients. Prime Minister Albanese emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening Australia-India relations and promoting the McGrath Foundation’s vital work. Cricket Australia Chair Mike Baird AO praised the enduring partnership with the Foundation and the Indian team’s support, underscoring the Pink Test’s role as a symbol of community and generosity.

McGrath Foundation Co-Founder Glenn McGrath AO described this year’s Pink Test as particularly significant, marking the first event dedicated to supporting all cancer patients. As the cricketing world anticipates the SCG decider, the Pink Test remains a powerful example of sport’s ability to unite communities and drive meaningful change.
