A vision screening campaign, launched today at Valluvar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, in Chennai, promises to bring hope and clear vision to underprivileged residents in several locations in Chennai.
Led by a fully equipped mobile eye unit with state-of-the-art vision screening and diagnostic facilities, the campaign will significantly enhance and strengthen IVI’s capabilities to expand coverage.
The mobile eye unit was inaugurated by the Australian Consul General Silai Zaki in the presence of IVI’s CEO Vinod Daniel and Sivaramakrishnan L, Manager, CSR, Five-Star Business Finance Ltd. The campaign is supported by Five-Star Business Finance Limited.
Thanking Ms. Zaki for attending the event and launching the campaign, Mr. Daniel said, “The mobile van will augment IVI’s outreach to the community, particularly the underprivileged, providing them not only with access to vision screening but also diagnosing other ocular health conditions. It will open up new vistas of opportunity for communities, ensuring everyone can see a brighter future.”
“At the launch, around 100 members of the community, including gypsies and subsistence-level workers, received corrective glasses. IVI thanks Five-Star Business Finance for their support,” he added.
Ms Zaki said “IVI’s work in providing clear vision to disadvantaged communities is commendable. It is a privilege to witness and support the great work done by Australians in India.”
