“Sydney extends a warm welcome to Gopal Bagley, India’s recently appointed High Commissioner to Australia.”

The Consulate General of India in Sydney hosted Mr. Gopal Bagley, where the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner emphasized that the relationship between Australia and India is rooted in shared values. Additionally, the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) organized a welcome reception at the NSW Parliament for both the new Indian High Commissioner and the new Consul General of India in Sydney, Dr. S. Janakiraman.

Premier of NSW, Chris Minns, speaking at the reception, underscored the profound ties between the two nations and acknowledged the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora in Australia. Jodi McKay and Irfan Malik, National Chair and National Associate Chair of AIBC respectively, also stressed the importance of the bilateral relationship.

Notable attendees at the function included Federal MP Julian Leeser, and NSW MPs Charishma Kaliyanda, Stephen Bali, Warren Kirby, and Scott Farlow MLC.
