BAPS cherishes a long history with Shri Ram Mandir since 1953. Pramukh Swami Maharaj performed the pujan of the first Shri Ram Shila for the mandir’s foundation in 1989. In 2020, the present spiritual head of the BAPS, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj performed the Shilanyas pujan of Shri Ram Mandir.

BAPS continued its support for Shri Ram Mandir ,on 19 January 2024, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj wrote a heartfelt handwritten letter, in which he expressed his overwhelming joy at the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav of the Mandir, and urged all BAPS devotees to celebrate this momentous occasion at home, with the same devotional enthusiasm as Diwali.

The opening of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir at Ayodhya in India was a historic occasion that marked the culmination of years of devotion and collective efforts.

In commemoration of this auspicious occasion, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Green Fields was also adorned in vibrant and beautiful decorations reflecting the joyous spirit of the religious celebration.

The auspicious ceremony took place at the BAPS Swaminarayan Hindu Mandir in Green Fields, Adelaide on 21st and 22nd January, where the spiritual richness and cultural heritage of the Hindu Community was showcased in a grand celebration. This event not only symbolised the religious significance of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir but also underscored the values of unity and harmony.

The celebration on the 21st commenced with traditional religious rituals and ceremonies in the presence of BAPS Sadhus, creating a sacred and joyous atmosphere. A car kalash yatra took place in which more than 100 cars carrying the flags, slogans of “Jai Shree Ram” and carrying kalash of water from Murray River and rice grains (Akshat), visited across various centers in South Australia, will be sent to Ayodhya.

The enlightening cultural programs included bhajans, video presentations, and discourses from the exemplary life of Shri Ramchandra Bhagwan. Murtis of Bhagwan Shri Ram, Sitaji and Hanumanji along with the Akshat Kumbh (ceremonial vessel containing sanctified rice grains from Ayodhya) were also joyously welcomed to the assembly in a colourful ‘palkhi yatra’ led by members of the congregation.
Distinguished leaders from various communities, dignitaries, and devotees gathered to witness the
inauguration, offering prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the community and the nation.

A webcast of the live coverage of the event from Ayodhya was displayed on a large screen to all the devotees in the Mandir on 22nd. The event concluded with Aarti and prasad.

This was also a welcome opportunity to work together with our friends from other Hindu Mandirs and
organisations to mark this historic occasion with unity, respect, and devotion. The collaborative efforts
symbolise the strength of our shared cultural heritage and the collective dedication towards the significance of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav
