SydWest Multicultural Services is hosting its annual Harmony Week celebration event on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, 21 March 2023 in Blacktown.

  • A Fijian Indian Meke dance performance
  • South Sudanese superstar singer Silver X

Special guest speakers include the Deputy Mayor of Blacktown and the SydWest Youth representative Zahra Tokhi providing a youth perspective on the opportunities as reflected with Harmony Week, as well as senior executives of SydWest.

There will  be some entertaining and interactive activities on the Village Green during the event, such as a Zumba class, Mr Bubbles and a Laughter Class. There will also be children’s activities happening throughout the event.

The program promises to be a fun and engaging celebration of Harmony Week 2023! We are looking forward to everyone feeling like they belong and coming along to join in the fun as a member of the inclusive community that is Blacktown City.

We look forward to this opportunity to celebrate our inclusive community, bringing diverse peoples together to share in the festivities. While our event is an uplifting celebration, we are conscious of its origins and the need to continually work hard to connect cultures and build community and ensure that we all stand strong against any form of racism and discrimination”, said SydWest CEO, Elfa Moraitakis.

We are also grateful to organisations such as Blacktown City Council and Sri Sathya Sai Global Council Australia for their sponsored support of our event, Elfa said.
