This year’s second season of the Sultana Bran Hockey One League is a ‘re-launch’ of the competition after it was not held over the past two years because of COVID.

After a successful inaugural season where the NSW Pride Men’s team finished as undefeated Champions, both the Women’s and Men’s squads have started off their 2022 Sultana Bran Hockey One League Season with some wins under their belt. With the Round 4 match this Friday heading to Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre, our NSW Pride Team’s look to continue their winning streak in front of their home crowd!

With the NSW Pride teams having 12 players from the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras included in this year’s squads, Season 2 is set to be action-packed!

The defending champions – NSW Pride Men’s squad will feature 15 returning players, including eight members of the Commonwealth Games gold medal winning squad from the recent Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

This season will see both squads play six rounds, including three home matches on Friday 21 October, Friday 28 October and for the first time in the Sultana Bran Hockey One League, NSW Pride will play one of its three home matches in Parkes in regional NSW on Saturday 12 November.

Speaking ahead of Season 2, Hockey NSW CEO Emma Highwood said, “After a few years between seasons it is exciting to be able to announce these NSW Pride squads… Following such a successful inaugural season with our all-conquering Men’s team finishing as Champions we cannot wait to see both squads showcase the spirit of Pride both on and off the field.”
