Politicians from Federal, State and Local Government will be guests at the final Children’s
Festival for 2022 on October 30 in Revesby.
The President of the Children’s Festival Organisation, Thuat Nguyen AM, today thanked the
long list of elected representatives for lending their support to the event which is now in its
24 th year.
The guest list is headed by the Federal Minister for Education, Jason Clare, and the NSW
Minister for Multiculturalism, Mark Coure, who will officially open the festival.
They will be joined by the Federal Member for Banks, David Coleman, along with three
Members of the NSW Parliament, the Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Clr Khal Asfour,
and a number of local government councillors.
The festival was originally set down for September 11 at Abel Reserve (Marco Avenue) in
Revesby but was postponed due to the impact of ongoing wet weather.
“We are committed to ensuring that the event will create lots of fun, harmony and a genuine
spectacle whilst at the same time safeguarding the well-being of all participants especially the
children present”.
Mr Nguyen expressed his appreciation for the great support already received from
participating groups, sponsors, volunteers and other Children's Festival friends.
“We hope to see you all on the rescheduled date and if anyone is interested in getting
involved with this much-loved event, please contact us and we will get back to you soon”.
The Children’s Festival is now in its 24 th year having staged 36 events in Bankstown,
Canterbury, Marrickville, Campbelltown and Sydney, attracting over a quarter of a million
participants.
Because of the Covid pandemic, no festivals were held during 2020 or 2021. The festival
returned in June this year with a spectacular event in Darling Harbour, Sydney.
“I invite everyone, whatever your background, to embrace this fun-filled day and celebrate
who and what we are as a wonderfully successful and unique multicultural society,” Mr
Nguyen concluded.
