Congratulations Rohan Kalpesh Gandhi for 99.95 ATAR

Rohan is a self-motivated, diligent, and enthusiastic young man. His strong work ethic, confidence, social skills, time management and willingness to participate has seen him enjoy his schooling journey.

Rohan started at Haberfield Public School where he enjoyed the challenges of the Gifted and Talented Program.

He extended his academic, musical, sporting and debating pursuits in Summer Hill Public School whilst enjoying the Opportunity Class environment. His primary school success included receiving a Prize award in the prestigious Australian Mathematics Competition, regional finalist in the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition and the Premier’s Spelling Bee.

His musical repertoire secured a place in the renowned Schools Spectacular choir program and Sydney Symphonic wind Band was an extension of his saxophone playing.

On the sporting field Rohan played for the Canterbury and Western Suburbs Cricket Association representative team from U10-U15 where he demonstrated strong bowling and fielding skills.

The final year of Primary school (2015) was well wrapped up with Rohan serving as School Prefect at Summer Hill Public School and also being selected in NSW PSSA Boys Cricket Championship and State Debating Championship.

Secondary School- Newington College, Stanmore

Newington College at Stanmore is where Rohan embarked on his high school journey. It was here he developed into a mature and passionate young man always keen to maximise his academic and personal development.

Public Speaking became a passion, and he was a State finalist in the Legacy Public Speaking Competition (2018). He extended his public speaking to the next level when he represented Newington College in the prestigious Lawrence Campbell Oratory Competition in 2021. Over the years he became a fearsome debater and learnt how to engage with a diverse range of opinions and challenge his own pre-conceived views.

His musical repertoire was more accomplished and having completed Grade 8 AMEB exams with the saxophone he made a positive contribution to the Stage Band and the Symphonic Wind Band.

On the sporting field Rohan continued his cricketing success playing for the school’s 1st team. In winter he took on football playing in the seconds and thirds team.

The Cadet program at Newington was outstanding and Rohan embraced every opportunity to develop endurance, physical fitness and mental strength and character. His successful completion of leadership courses saw him promoted as a Cadet Under Officer (CUO).

Rohan’s leadership skills, academic achievements and commitment to college were fully recognized when he was selected as Deputy Senior Prefect for 2020-2021. As a deputy senior prefect, he liaised between the student body, the Student Representative Council and the headmaster.

On the academic front Rohan studied the International Baccalaureate Diploma and rose to its challenges and also the challenge of the covid lockdown. His balanced, calm, self-motivated and collaborative study  attitude helped him secure a perfect IB score of 45 [ATAR 99.95] and he is studying medicine at the University of Sydney.

Despite his many personal achievements, Rohan is humble, courteous and shows genuine compassion for others. He values his faith, friendships, and family.

Whilst enjoying travel and learning of other cultures, Rohan enjoys reading, music, movies, outdoor activities, and gym work-out.
