Key points from NSW Health for 29 September 2021

  • NSW has now reached 86.2% single dose and 61.7% double dose vaccinations. Also, already 44.5% of 12-15 year olds have been vaccinated.
  • Deepest gratitude to everyone who has come forward to get vaccinated. We are inching closer to our 70% double dose target and are confident we will get to 90% first dose by the end of next week.
  • Please book your vaccination as soon as possible at nsw.gov.au and help each other get vaccinated. We don’t want to leave anyone behind.
  • There were 863 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Tragically 15 people have died. Nine of these people were unvaccinated.
  • We need to exercise an extra degree of caution between 70% and 80% to make sure we don’t see a surge in cases or a surge in hospitalisation.
  • We have seen a reduction in cases across Greater Sydney, but unfortunately an increase in the regions. Please continue to monitor for symptoms, pay attention to the public health advice and come forward for testing. Please make sure you know the restrictions in your area https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/rules
  • Sydney suburbs of concern remain Greenacre, Merrylands, Guildford, Yagoona, Blacktown, Minto. We are also concerned about areas of the Illawarra Shoalhaven region, Mount Druitt and Auburn.
  • From 11 October, aged care residents will be able to welcome two fully vaccinated visitors a day.
  • Please get your health advice from trusted sources like NSW Health and the Federal Government Department of Health.
