Key points from NSW Health on COVID-19 for 3 September 2021

  • NSW recorded 1,431 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Sadly 12 people have died.
  • The NSW vaccination rollout is going very well: More than 827,000 people in NSW came forward to be vaccinated in the last week. This gives us hope that we will reach our 70% fully vaccinated target by mid-October.  If you haven’t had your vaccine yet, please book in urgently at nsw.gov.au
  • Please make sure you know the lockdown rules in your area and please adhere to the advice. Staying home as much as possible and getting vaccinated is your best protection.
  • Thank you to all the GPs, pharmacists and NSW Health for helping our population to get vaccinated.
  • Most new cases are in Greater Western Sydney and Southwest Sydney. Thank you for following public health advice, getting tested and getting vaccinated. Greater Sydney suburbs of most concern are Auburn, Guildford, Merrylands, Greenacre, Bankstown and Liverpool.
  • There have been more new cases in regional NSW. If you live in regional NSW, please keep coming forward to get your vaccination to keep your community safe.
  • Thank you to the 154,000 people who came forward to get tested. Please get tested immediately if you have even mild symptoms or are a contact of a case, especially in areas where there has been sewage detection with no known cases: Jindabyne, Cooma, Bega, Bomaderry, Wauchope and Blayney.
  • We know how difficult this time is, especially for thousands of families are juggling working from home and home schooling. It’s really important to look after your own health. Talk to your friends and families and look for advice if you need to.
  • There may be difficult days ahead, but we need to work together to support our state and our nation.
