Key Points from NSW Health on COVID-19 for 19 August 2021

  • NSW recorded 681 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. This number is devastating and we need to get this number down. There has been one death of a man in his 80s from South-East Sydney.
  • 110,000 people were vaccinated yesterday. If you haven’t been vaccinated, please book in urgently at nsw.gov.au
  • South and South-West Sydney continue to have the most cases. Suburbs of most concern are Merrylands, Guildford, Auburn, Granville, Lidcombe, Greenacre and Blacktown.
  • We continue to be concerned about Western NSW and particularly Dubbo and Wilcannia. Given the outbreak, the lockdown in regional NSW will be extended until 28 August. Make sure you know the lockdown rules in your area.
  • When we reach 70% and 80% vaccination rates we can consider reducing restrictions in September and October. If you live in a local government areas of concern and are aged 16-39 book a priority appointment today: Priority COVID-19 vaccination booking for 16 to 39 year-olds | NSW Government

We need to keep people out of hospital and avoid deaths, and staying home and getting vaccinated is the way out
