The next best thing to actually being there in the flesh, Paralympics Australia has today
announced the launch of its new ‘Green and Gold Virtual Seat’ campaign ahead of the
Tokyo Paralympic Games. The campaign encourages Australians to buy a virtual seat from
just $25 and help raise $500,000 in support of this year’s Australian Paralympic Team and
tomorrow’s Paralympians.
The campaign will see Australian fans receive a unique and personalised virtual seat, along
with bragging rights and a customised graphic to share across their social media platforms.
Lynne Anderson, CEO of Paralympics Australia, said funds raised through campaigns such as
this help our para-athletes compete on the international stage, and provide the 20 percent
of Australians living with a disability the opportunity to shine through sport.
“Our Green and Gold Virtual Seat campaign is so much more than just a seat at the Games.
It will not only enable us to nurture our current Paralympic talent, but also help launch the
dreams of future Paralympic superstars,” said Lynne.
“Our goal is to advance the Paralympic movement and para-sports within Australia, whilst
working to create a more inclusive society. This means our efforts are not solely focused on
the elite. From a grassroots level, we collaborate with governments, sporting bodies and the
community to recognise and develop future Paralympians.”
Paralympics Australia provides funding for programs at both the elite and grass roots levels
of Para-sport to help ensure Australian living with a disability have more opportunities to
participate in sport at the level of their choice.
