An Indian postgraduate information technology student has died unexpectedly

Harishivashanker Reddy Nagaram, an Indian postgraduate information technology student has died unexpectedly. Southern Cross University extends its deepest sympathy to the family.

Mr Nagaram was at home with friends last week when he became unwell. He was treated at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital for a massive subarachnoid haemorrhage.

Through the hospital’s social worker team and a translator, his parents in India were able to say their final goodbyes via video conference.

Mr Nagaram had been studying a Master of Information Technology at the University’s Gold Coast campus for the past 12 months.

“Southern Cross University is deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of Harishivashanker Reddy Nagaram. We send our sincere condolences to the Nagaram family,” said Mr Monty Singh, the University’s Chief International Officer.

“Mr Nagaram was a dedicated and committed student. His loss will equally be felt by his academic and student colleagues.

“The University is in touch with the Nagaram family in India, and we are providing them with assistance and support in these difficult times.”

Southern Cross has been liaising with the High Commission of India in Canberra. The University is also helping with arrangements to return his body to family in Telangana, India by the end of this week.
