Taste of India,  Sur Sagar – The confluence of music and Icons of India: Key highlights of the event

As India – the largest democracy on the planet enters the 74th year of its Independence, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Consulate General of India, Sydney has lined up series of events throughout the August 2020 signifying glimpses of New India. These diverse aspects of India will be showcased prominently through three major events;

1) Taste of India – Traditional flavors of India are known for its comprehensive health value and ever cherished taste that not only attracts your eyes and taste buds but truly gives you a soul soothing experience through its richness, vibrancy and love. This diverse culinary legacy of India will be showcased by dynamic and ever energetic leading Culinary icons of India namely Chef. Harpal Singh Sokhi, Chef Amrita Raichand, Chef Kumar Mahadevan (Sydney) and Chef Ranveer Brar. These culinary magicians of India have decided to prepare delicacies for all of you which are not only full of flavors, colors but full of love, admiration and truly reflect the evolved cultural legacy of India attracting billions of taste buds across the world. And yes, you don’t have to worry about its preparation, because these culinary magicians have prepared a detailed recipe with list of ingredients exclusively for you. So, what are you waiting for? 2) Sur Sagar – The confluence of music

India and Australia both have a great legacy of rich, diverse, and harmonious music and when performed together it creates an impact like the confluence of Indian Ocean with the Pacific. When a friend participates in this moment it reinforces the spirit of Friendship. This essence of friendship complimented by India’s glorious journey till today, inspired the legendary artists of India and Australia to come together and express their sentiments through their music. As a result of this, a harmonious piece was created, titled as Sur Sagar – the Confluence of Music, conceptualized by Tabla Maestro Pdt. Yogesh Samsi (India) and eminent percussionist Mr. Chris Fields (Australia) in association with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center, Consulate General of India, Sydney. This friendly interaction is excellently exemplified by the Icons of Indian and Australian Music namely Pdt. Rakesh Chaurasia (India), Mr. Purbayan Chatterjee (India), Mr. Stuart Vandergraaff (Australia), Pdt. Yogesh Samsi (India), Mr. Chris Fields (Australia) and Mr. Michael Galeazzi (Australia). Commemorating the Indian Independence, the musical video will be released on August 13, 2020 by Mr. Julian Leeser, MP, Chair, Parliamentary Friends of India (Australia), Mr. Manish Gupta, Consul General of India Sydney and Mr. Ramanand Garge, Director, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Sydney.

3) Icons of India

The remarkable journey of India is full of achievements and benchmarks. The celebration of India’s Independence gives a great opportunity to commence the showcase such Icons of India that have touched pinnacles by excelling in their respective fields and brought lauders to India. This special series will span throughout the year where some icons will visit virtually to share their exhilarating life stories. These wide spectrum of achievements and experiences will be a great source of inspiration to budding minds and generations.
