The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia has been postponed to October – November 2022, with the final to be played on Sunday 13 November 2022.
The ICC Board confirmed the decision after announcing in July that the event, originally scheduled for October – November this year, would be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This followed a comprehensive contingency planning exercise.
The decision for Australia to host in 2022 means the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in India will take place as scheduled in the agreed window from 17 October to 14 November 2021.
The decision for Australia to host in 2022 presents the opportunity to have passionate supporters of competing teams able to participate by attending matches.
Fans who had purchased tickets to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia will be refunded in full, while revised fixtures and venues for the event in 2022 will be announced in due course.
All teams who qualified for Australia 2020 will gain entry into the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in India.

“This decision gives Australia something to look forward to in 2022. It also gives us a good chance of safely welcoming fans into the outstanding venues across the country to enjoy watching the world’s best cricketers compete in this major global event.
“We would like to thank our government partners and venues for their continued support and we are working closely with them to retain the same host city and venue footprint established for the 2020 tournament, to the fullest extent possible.”
