The ad for a cola brand from India will feature zombies by Academy Award and BAFTA-winning make-up effects company Odd Studios, under the direction of famous French Director Julien Troussellier and DOP Daniel Last Low from Singapore. The ad is being shot at the film-friendly, vibrant, and picturesque GrainCorp silos at Carrington allowing the crew to film in some sections of the factory over the weekend.
Film maker Anupam Sharma, whose Fox Studios (Sydney) based company TEMPLE is producing the ad in Australia said: “We have always been proud of our international projects over the last 22 years hiring diverse Australian cast and crew, but this project is special as it gives us the opportunity to spend money in regional NSW especially after the bush fires. We love the drive to promote spending in regional NSW after the bushfires of 2019/2020, so we’re thrilled to be bringing global producers to the region from one of the leading TVC production companies, Cutting Edge Pictures, in Mumbai.”
Sate Member of Newcastle Mr. Tim Crakanthorp welcomed the crew to Newcastle and said, “It’s fantastic to have Anu and his team here. Newcastle has a very diverse offering for film crews, and I’m thrilled that we have been chosen to be the backdrop of this commercial.”
Founder of Cutting Edge Pictures Mr. Dipinder Sandhoo said from his office in Mumbai: “I have been bringing high-end projects to Australia for 17 years with our Australian producing partner Anupam, and love Australian locations and film services. We in India and around the world all heard about the devastation by the bush fires and so we were very happy that we found the locations in Newcastle thus giving us an opportunity to contribute to the regional economy.”
While the details of the ad are strictly under wraps as it features two of India’s biggest Bollywood stars, the ad features over 120 cast and crew from NSW which will film in Newcastle for over two days.
Annette Huber of Screen Hunter welcomed the crew and stated: “Screen Hunter is committed to promoting the region to film crews from around the world. Temple has been filming their international projects in this region for over 21 years, so we are delighted to be working with them once again in the Hunter. A production of this size brings significant economic contribution through foreign investment and local employment in our film friendly region. Another opportunity to highlight the Hunter region to a global audience.”
