Dr Bernard Malik appointed as Special Envoy for Trade, Investment and Education representative of the Office of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea

A path breaking innovator in the field of education and a warrior for noble causes, Dr Bernard Malik, also known lovingly as Reverend Malik is a noted global educationist and an eminent American philanthropist having vast experience and expertise in the field of education with a vision and yen to succeed. Having acknowledged that education is the only stable way to actual empowerment, Dr Malik began the crusade of setting up state of the art educational facilities across the globe. He is also the Founder of International Open University in Meghalaya, India (established by the Government of Meghalaya, India)

Dr Malik is an accomplished Higher Education leader with extensive experience. He now has on anvil, a series of open universities, Kingdom of Tonga and India, striving to raise the bar of higher education quality on a whole. He also established Leaders Institute in Brisbane, a higher education provider, delivering Accounting and Agribusiness Bachelors programs. He is a Transformational Leader who is committed to eradicating illiteracy and believes in educational empowerment which explains his involvement in higher education initiatives in India, Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

A true philanthropic soul, he has involved himself with many human rights issues and has always tried his best to champion the causes of the downtrodden, the voiceless, and the deprived, to the authorities in concern, so that an effective change may be brought about. He was a pioneer and lead voice on issues of Human Rights for Indians in the United States until he moved to Australia. He has made representations to the Prime Minister of India, President of the United States of America, many ministers of Indian Government, White House Advisors, Members of Parliament in many countries, US Senators, Congressmen, US State Department, United Nations and International Human Rights Organizations. The global community has acknowledged his outstanding work. Numerous human rights and church related associations in US, Canada, India and Africa, have honoured him. He was also honoured with “Hind Rattan Award” this year.

Likewise, he has set up and is associated with a number of charities and social organisations including International Council of Evangelical Churches, Federation of Indian Christian Organizations of North America, Organisation for Eradication of Illiteracy and Poverty, Minority Empowerment Organisation and the “Save Girl Child” Organisation. He has spent close to a decade serving as an NGO representative to the United Nations and has spent the better part of his life standing up for social issues and raising voices on behalf of the marginalised. He has begun his pet program “Feed the Hungry” in Brisbane. He trains his graduates finer values in life by providing food every Tuesday to the hungry and homeless by way of giving back to the community.

He has been appointed as Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Trade, Investment and Education for Papua New Guinea. The letter by Prime Minister the Right Hon recognising Dr Bernard Malik’s efforts, read,” My Government is endeavouring to attract genuine private investors to partner developing Papua New Guinea and you have shown interest in this area.” Dr Malik is passionate about promoting trade and investments in PNG and will be holding investment seminars around the world. International Monetary Fund classifies PNG as a developing country and massive growth in mining and resources sector made it the sixth fastest growing economy in 2011.
