Six Maoists were arrested and a huge quantity of explosives was recovered in Bihar’s Munger district Tuesday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a combing operation near Bhimbandh forest and arrested the Maoists and recovered the arms and ammunition, including 200 bullets, 50 detonators and an Insas rifle, Deputy Inspector General of Police Sudhansu Kumar said.
Police also recovered material used for making explosives.
Last month, security forces recovered 70 hand grenades in a search operation in Munger and 25 land mines and explosives material in neighbouring Jamui district.
The two districts are considered strongholds of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist.
