Passion to Profession: Meenal Reedy

Meenal Reedy, the face behind Sapphire Artistry, has grown into one of the leading names of

the Makeup Industry in New Zealand – credits the ascension of her brand to ‘being fearless in

the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.’

Her never-ending love for hair and makeup turned to becoming her dream career 3 years ago

but apart from creating stunning bridal and special event looks, she has much more experience

in the industry to offer. Working as a Makeup Director for organisations like Kaleidoscope with

running events such as the Grand Indo-Western Bridal Expo held at the Cloud in Auckland

CBD, working as the Senior Makeup Artist for NZ fashion designers such as Kharl Wirepa,

running international events including Brides of Asia in Melbourne as well as leading workshops

for models and pageants including Auckland’s Top Model. If that wasn’t enough, she’s also

sponsored Miss Asia Pacific International NZ 2018 by running a workshop with a full hair and

make up package for the entire event with my team, worked for many NZ punjabi singers like

Auckland’s well known punjabi artist Love Brar and been part of a short film – High Tide, by

Deejay Williams – all in the short span of 3 years.

After such massive growth and success, a rebranding – to MRA – Meenal Reddy Artistry – is just

around the corner. Her new projects include working as the Head Makeup Artist in the

international theatrical ‘Meera the Production’ coming to NZ, whilst running workshops and

nurturing more aspiring artists under her wing.

“It’s not always straightforward, there’s hard work to put in and the willingness to take all

opportunities that come your way”, says the self taught artist. She plans to be heading to

Melbourne to take on leading project roles and international fashion shows while mentoring

young aspiring artists and taking them through this creative journey with her. She is truly a

self-made role model and her one piece of advice for you would be to ‘allow your passion to

become your purpose and it will one day become your profession,’ just like it did for her.
