The Universal Gala: A night that celebrated beauty with a cause

Melbourne’s night of nights celebrates the National winners of Mrs Universal and helps raise money for the Helping Hands Foundation which supports underprivileged children within the Asia Pacific region. In a display of wonderment, at the Champions Ballroom in the revamped and soon to be relaunched Arrow on Swanston Hotel in Melbourne. The event witnessed beautiful winners from all around Australia parade the catwalk, amongst an array of dancers and musicians.

Organised by fashionista and philanthropist Nowman Kareem, this is the second annual gala event for the Foundation. Last year saw a packed out Swanston Room at the Langham Hotel and all reports came back 5 stars! This year is shaping up to be no different with Mr Kareem saying that we shouldn’t be surprised “if some memorable moments are made on the night. I’m not wanting to give too much away, but let’s just say you’ll be blown away by some of the acts”.

Not only did the guests enjoy the fashion show, catwalks by the Mrs Universal winners and delicious delicacies, they also witnessed the Black magic Fashion Runway by Meena Moripalli & Gowns by Kwacha Luka is brought to Melbourne for the fist time.

The night was hosted by Actor Paul Torok & the Former Ms Universal Australia Dr Somaiye Kadivar who also won the 1st runner up internationally amongst 40 contestants in London in 2017

“We crowned the New Ms Australia universal 20019 Ms Sophia Vincent, Mrs South India Universal 2019 Dr Padma Gadiyar, Ms Mauritius Universal 2019 Ms Mila Amelie, Mrs Bangladesh Universal 2019 Mrs Nureen Chowdury, Mrs Pakistan Universal 2019 Mrs Atika Rana and Pre crowning of Mrs Borneo Universal 2019 Mrs Yulia Hadi. We wish them all the very best for their international finals in Mexico this August 2019.

A big thank you for all our well wishers for making this a memorable night for the winners and raise funds to send some unprivileged children in Sri Lanka back to school in 2019,” Nowman Kareem was quoted as saying.
