Goa’s YouTube sensation enthrals diaspora in Australia

Goa’s latest YouTube sensation, Konkani singer and comedian Sanio Fernandes mesmerised the Goan diaspora during his maiden visit to Australia, where he performed at a social event and also entertained Goan families living here.

If he was not singing a Cantar (Konkani song), he would entertain families with his humour. Singing some of his original hit songs like ‘Konkani Maim Bhas’ and ‘Goa Mannik Udentichem’, Sanio struck an excellent cord with the Goan families, who claimed it was treat to watch a true Goan travelling overseas to perform here in Australia.

Acclaimed as a ‘natural’ stage comedian, Sanio took to acting at a very tender age acting in tiatrs and local village shows.

Singing songs on social issues, he often acknowledged that he would want to continue his God-given talent in strengthening family values and uniting Goans overseas to always respect their motherland and preserve Goa’s rich heritage for generations to come.

“If we get our family values right, we will get our society right, if we get our society right, our state and tribe will be the most admired in the world called ‘Goenkar’.

Acknowledging the wonderful hospitality extended to him during his visit to Australia, the singer said “it amazes me to see hardworking Goans extending their arms wide open to a son of the Goan soil, and recognizing my  singing talent. I will cherish every moment spent down under.”

He also paid glowing tributes to his music teacher Josefato Vales, who incidentally, has made Australia his home.

Sanio will soon be releasing his latest videos on social issues on the internet, hoping to touch lives positively, spreading love and respect in families and maintaining Goa’s rich cultural heritage.
