Trump considers pardon for Illinois ex-governor, celebrity chef

US President Donald Trump on Thursday said he was considering a pardon for celebrity chef Martha Stewart and for conservative author Dinesh D’Souza, as well as commutation for disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

“Will be giving a Full Pardon to Dinesh D’Souza today. He was treated very unfairly by our government!” Trump tweeted earlier on Thursday, Xinhua reported.

The President then told reporters about his thinking about the other two while on a flight to Texas, local media said.

Stewart, who was convicted of multiple felony charges in 2004, was prosecuted by former FBI Director James Comey, and served five months in federal prison.

Blagojevich is in the sixth year of a 14-year sentence in Colorado prison, according to local media reports, noting both Blagojevich and Stewart have connections to Trump’s television show, NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice.”

Last week, Trump also pardoned the deceased boxer Jack Johnson.
