“Patience is the key,” says Banita Sandhu who is making her Bollywood debut with ‘October’ in an Indus Age exclusive

This new girl has already set Bollywood abuzz with her expressive eyes and fresh face. Meet Banita Sandhu, the lead actress starring opposite Bollywood’s heartthrob Varun Dhawan in Shoojit Sircar’s upcoming directorial film, ‘October’. Indus Age spoke to Banita who will be making her Bollywood debut with this film based on unconditional love between Dan and Shiuli played by Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu.

When Banita was asked about setting bollywood industry a buzz already, this undergrad student studying in London said, “I think I can just say that “It’s very humbling.”

Did she expect her first film that too with director Shoojit Sircar, opposite Varun Dhwan? “Honestly no, I never in my wildest dream would have imagined to be a part of such a great film. I never imagined that my first film would be with such a significant role, with an acclaimed director and very successful actor like Varun (Dhawan),” she said cheerfully.

And when we asked her how the film ‘October’ was offered to her? The ever bubbly girl that Banita is, said, “I was doing an ad shoot with Soojit sir and it was a week’s shoot and during that shoot, he approached me and said that he has this film and he thinks that I should do it , he kind of mentioned the important things , showed the script which I really liked and I went back to London I didn’t hear from him for about 6 months and  after a few days finally I got a call from Shoojit Sir and he offered the role.”

Director Shoojit Sircar, is known to make content driven films, how her experience was working with him?

“Incredible!  and you know with Shoojit sir he is very much an actor’s director and brings out the best out of an actor, no matter how challenging the role could be. He is absolutely a dream to work with,” she asserted.

The trailer of the film has raised the bar of expectations, is she nervous? “I am not nervous but am really excited for people to find what we have done.”

And what does she want the audience to take away from this film? “A film can mean different thing to different people, but I just hope that people like this film, I hope this film make people think.”

On her message to aspiring actors, the young actress responded with confidence, “Patience is the key, whatever has to happen will happen and it’s in the Universe’s hand. All we could do is believe in ourselves and be patient.”
