Largest Ganesh idol to have ever crossed Indian boundaries for the biggest Ganesh festival being celebrated in Adelaide, SA!

The festival state of South Australia has a mosaic of cultural diversity, assimilated from all corners of the world, making it a global village in true sense.

UIOSA (United Indians of South Australia) is an incorporated organisation formed in 2016 to celebrate the diverse multiculturalism in South Australia through various festivals and cultural activities. UIOSA appreciates cultural harmony amongst all ethnic backgrounds that have co-existed here for years, and is committed to render its organisational support to further promote the same.
Highlights of last year’s ‘Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival, SA-2016’
The festival was one of its kind ever celebrated in Australia, in many different ways.
• The 11.3 ft Ganesh idol (Australia Ċha Raja), displayed for public exhibition for its admiration and respect was the largest Ganesh Idol that has ever crossed Indian boundaries. The 14 ft massive decoration was a big attraction for the visitors.
• The festival was studded by more than 7 hrs of multicultural performances spread over two days from international and local talents, including well-known art groups and school children from South Australia.
• The local community witnessed the vastness and richness of other cultures, their art forms through various performances like Italian, African, Greek, Fiji, Cambodian, Chinese, Aboriginal, and of course, Indian.
• The festival was conducted in a harmonious environment with utmost zeal and enthusiasm by more than 6000 visitors over two days not only from SA but also from inter-state – all without a single untoward incident or any inconvenience to visitors or the neighbourhood.
• The festival was made possible due to a dedicated army of more than 200 volunteers from the sports community, senior citizens’ group from different communities, college students and youngsters.
• Honourable Ministers, MP’s, Presidents, representatives of ethnic/community organisations visited the festival and took part in the festivities and also tried their hands on the traditional musical instruments and dances.

About ‘Arts and Cultural Ganesh Festival, SA-2017’ – 26th & 27th August (Sat, Sun)

The preparations are on in full swing:
• Participants are approaching and nominating their groups for multicultural performances
• Different art groups have started their practice
• Communities are approaching with their support and rendering their volunteering services.

This year the festival will be underlined by:
• More inter community performances for extended hours (14 hours) over two days.
• More attractive and spell binding decorations by renowned overseas decorators
• More local participation with exposure of multicultural communities to local businesses
• Stalls for sponsors and exhibitors
• Massive promotions via posters, flyers and social media platforms
• Satyanarayan Pooja by 50 couples – no charges
• Meals at all time for all the visitors and devotees
• Art exhibition on ‘Ganesha’
• Presence of political dignitaries, Chief Guest is star cricketer Mathew Hayden, Brand ambassador for the ‘Mahindra Group’.
