The Assam Police Friday announced cash awards to the tune of Rs.5 lakh on some leaders of the Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO).
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) A.P Raut told media persons here that cash awards have been announced on seven KLO rebels.
“The KLO, which mainly operates in Assam and West Bengal, had been able to regroup and reorganize itself in Myanmar,” Raut said adding that the outfit increased its cadre strength to 200 in last two years.
While Rs. 5 lakh each had been announced on KLO general secretary Keshab Barman, commander-in-chief Shyam Ray, assistant organizing secretary Lal Chand Deka and cultural secretary Digambar Rai, Rs.3 lakh had been announced on three other cadres of the outfit – Dhananjoy Dayal, Samar Barman and Hiranya Ray.
On Monday, police had released the photographs of five top leaders of anti-talk faction of the NDFB leaders including its chairman I.K. Songbijit and announced cash awards to the tune of Rs. 10 lakh on a total of 15 senior leaders of the outfit.
