Duncan Pegg is the State Member for Stretton. His electorate includes the suburbs of Calamvale, Stretton, Drewvale, Kuraby, Runcorn, Eight Mile Plains and Sunnybank Hills. Within Parliament Duncan is a member of the Finance and Administration Committee, which is a portfolio committee of the Legislative Assembly with responsibility for the areas of Premier and Cabinet and Treasury and Trade. Duncan is also the Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee, whose principal function is to monitor and review the performance of the functions of the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC); to report to Parliament on matters relevant to the CCC; and to participate in the selection of Commissioners of the CCC.
Duncan is proud to represent the multicultural seat of Stretton and has spoken many times in the Legislative Assembly about the way the community in Stretton embraces diversity.
“My electorate of Stretton has the highest proportion of people born overseas in the state. It has the highest proportion of people speaking a language other than English at home of any electorate in this state. It is a place where Chinese Lunar New Year, Eid al-Fitr and Diwali are celebrated in the community along with Easter and Christmas. It truly is a fantastic place to live with so much cultural celebration.”
Out of the curiosity to learn about other cultures, Duncan also has studied Mandarin at the Institute of Modern Languages at the University of Queensland.
In 2015 and 2016, Mr. Duncan Pegg supported the Red Carpet Functions Multicultural Fashion Show, as a representative from Stretton and State Parliament and more importantly, a favorer in multiculturalism. His dedication in representing a multicultural community and supporting Multiculturalism is commendable!
