Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance has today marked the latest milestone at ICC Sydney, with the completion of the Event Deck that will be a major drawcard to the new look Darling Harbour.
The Event Deck is 5,000 square metres and will cater for large-scale events that will be visible from Tumbalong Park and even parts of the CBD.
“This world class outdoor venue will be a spectacular place to hold showcase events. It is the size of a football field and has magnificent views of the city skyline and harbour,” Mr Constance said.
“The Event Deck is pivotal to the revitalisation of Darling Harbour’s exhibition and convention space and provides the facilities and functionality to draw international meetings and business events. It will be a true icon of activation and entertainment in the heart of Sydney.”
The expansive Event Deck provides additional flexibility to the permanent buildings as it can be used in a variety of ways, including large-scale marquee facilities.
When the Event Deck is not being used for events, it will be an open space available to the public for passive use during daylight hours. It will allow for the expansion of the types of activities that already occur in Tumbalong Park such as community events, sporting activities, and cultural festivals.
The Event Deck also features a 1,000 square metre outdoor lounge and rooftop bar area and a wild grass green roof.
