The Spirit of India, not for Profit organisation in NSW organised a very special (free of cost) event to perform Surya Yadnya (Surya Namaskar) on 20th August, 2016 from 7.00am till 10.30am at Parramatta Park for creating an awareness and health benefits of Yoga specially the Sun Salutation.
This event was a grand success with about 50 people from various backgrounds and age groups participating. People performed 108 sets of Sun Salutation in an open beautiful backdrop and surroundings of Parramatta Park. Out of which about 42 people have completed 108 Sun Salutations (54 sets) and 25 persons 216 Sun Salutations (108 sets) The objective of the event was to increase confidence in doing regular practice of Surya Namaskar at home and its overall health benefits. The beauty of the event was that the majority of those participated had never done in life 108 sets at once but have taken up the challenge to prove a point to push themselves for real health benefits. Having completed 108 sets, majority of people felt like achieving a Olympic Gold medal in life and impacts of which is likely to be with them with a constant motivation and reminder to practice Yoga!
Mr Suresh, who is a dedicated Yoga teacher from last 12 years and is passionate about changing lives of people with genuine community service, wanted to convey a message.
Mr Suresh said to all participants and his students, “Surya Namaskar is a complete exercise, regular practice of Surya Namaskar shall increase your stamina, increase physical strength, and spine can become strong, supple and flexible. It will reduce cholesterol, reduce obesity, control weight and feel energetic and young”.
With outstanding success and high participation, Spirit of India is considering having regular events (once a quarter) for Sun Salutation for encouraging more participation and conveying health benefits of Yoga.
They are planning for Next Surya Yadnya on Sunday 4th December, 2016.
