India’s men’s skeet shooters were unable to reach the final round of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup for Shotgun here on Friday.
Among the three Indians in the fray, Sheeraz Shaikh and Man Singh shot identical scores of 117 in the qualification round to finish in the 36th and 37th positions, respectively. Sumit Singh was way behind in 76th place, with shot a score of 108. Mairaj Ahmad Khan, who has qualifed for the upcoming Rio Olympics, gave the event a miss.
On Thursday, Indian women skeet shooters Maheshwari Chauhan and Rashmee Rathore ended 36th and 49th, respectively. Maheshwari shot 64 out of 75 while Rashmee managed 61.
The ISSF World Cup will now move to Baku, Azerbaijan, for its fourth and concluding stage and would be a combined stage for rifle, pistol and shotgun. This would be the last global competition for the sport before the Rio Olympics in August.
