Tickets to the 2016-17 international cricket season go on sale today, with fans around the country able to secure tickets to see Australia take on South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan across a scintillating summer of cricket.
As part of James Sutherland’s assurance last season that Cricket Australia would do a wholesale review of ticket pricing, ticket prices have been reduced with entry level tickets for international matches from $30 for adults, $10 for children and $65 for families^ at venues in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne, and from $25 for adults, $8 for children and $54 for families^ in Hobart, making the summer of cricket even more appealing and affordable.
The 2016-17 international season begins with the Commonwealth Bank Test Series against South Africa. Featuring some of the world’s best cricketers, the South Africans will take on Australia in the first Test in Perth from 3 November before the series moves to Blundstone Arena from 12 November and concludes in Adelaide Oval from 24 November. Tickets for the Commonwealth Bank Adelaide Test will not be on sale on 31 May as discussions with Cricket South Africa about the prospect of the match being played as a day-night Test are ongoing. Cricket Australia remains optimistic that the Adelaide match will be a day-night Test and is working to confirm details for this match in the coming weeks.
Australia will host New Zealand for a three match Victoria Bitter One Day International Series. The series between the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 finalists and two top-ranked ODI sides will begin in Sydney on 4 December before moving to Manuka Oval in Canberra on 6 December and concluding at the MCG on 9 December.
Test cricket resumes with the Commonwealth Bank Test Series against Pakistan. The series will start with the historic Commonwealth Bank Day-Night Test in Brisbane from 15 December, followed by the Commonwealth Bank Boxing Day Test at the MCG from 26 December and the Commonwealth Bank Pink Test at the SCG from 3 January.
Pakistan will then play Australia in the second Victoria Bitter One Day International Series, with matches being played in Brisbane (13 January), Melbourne (15 January), Perth (19 January) and Sydney (22 January) before culminating in the Victoria Bitter One Day International at Adelaide Oval on Australia Day.
“We are excited to have such high calibre opponents touring Australia this summer and are sure that fans can look forward to entertaining cricket played around the country,” said Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland. “We have made tickets available for purchase much earlier this year in order to give fans more time to plan their summer ahead and we encourage people to purchase tickets now and guarantee the seats they want.”
The 2016-17 international cricket season will conclude with a three match KFC T20INTL Series against Sri Lanka on 17 February, 19 February and 22 February. The venues for these matches are still being determined and as a result tickets for this series will not be on sale on 31 May. Cricket Australia is working to confirm details for this series in the coming weeks.
