The NSW economy remains the nation’s best performer according to the latest ANZ Stateometer, despite slowing momentum along the east coast.
Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian said the monthly report showed that economic conditions in NSW were still strong despite a cyclical slowdown in some key indicators.
“Despite the challenges, the Stateometer indicated that economic activity in NSW remains above trend and we are still the best performing State,” Ms Berejiklian said.
ANZ noted that the economic outlook remains favourable for NSW. It stated that economic growth in NSW should remain above the national average this year and next due to factors such as a ‘pipeline of major projects and urban rejuvenation works’.
“I was pleased that the construction of new infrastructure was noted among the factors contributing to NSW’s positive economic outlook,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“The NSW Government is getting on with the job of delivering the roads, transport, schools and hospitals that this State needs and these projects are really making a difference to economic activity.”
