India and Sri Lanka Friday continued the exchange of jailed fishermen ahead of talks between fishing communities of the two nations here Jan 20.
A statement by the Tamil Nadu government said 121 Indian fishermen were released by Sri Lanka Friday. They would reach home in a couple of days.
India on its part released 61 Sri Lankan fishermen jailed in Tamil Nadu.
On Thursday, Sri Lanka sent home 51 Indian fishermen while India repatriated 52 Sri Lankans.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa had announced Jan 11 that her government has taken steps to get 275 Indian fishermen released from Sri Lankan jails.
She said the government would also take steps to release 179 Sri Lankan fishermen lodged in jails in Tamil Nadu.
