LOVE THE WINE YOU’RE WITH

Sydney’s Hyde Park will be transformed into an oasis for wine and food lovers this weekend with some of the State’s best winemakers and Sydney’s finest restaurants coming together for the Sydney Cellar Door.

Minister for Skills, Small Business and Regional Development John Barilaro said visitors will also have an opportunity to sample the produce from the future stars of the wine and food industry with TAFE NSW students presenting their work at the restaurant and winery stalls.

“Over 50 students from hospitality, cookery and event management courses will be involved in offering high quality food, wine and service that reflects the quality of the training developed by TAFE NSW,” Mr Barilaro said.

TAFE NSW will host a restaurant which will sell a wide range of dishes and run a nearby wine stall selling wine to complement each menu item.

“The wines and menu items have been created by talented TAFE students and have been matched, so you can come and have an all-round taste experience,” Mr Barilaro said.

Made by TAFE NSW Ambassador Lisa McGuigan will attend the stalls on Saturday afternoon to encourage people to try the produce and promote TAFE courses.

Some of the best chefs in Australia began their careers with TAFE NSW including Ed Halmagyi, who will join Lisa, Matt Moran, Giovanni Pilu and Tom Walton

“I’m pleased to see our students participating in this event that brings together regional small businesses from across the state and an opportunity for people to experience the quality offerings produced right here in NSW.”

The Sydney Cellar Door event is a part of the NSW Good Food and Wine festival and attracts nearly 80,000 visitors who sample regional food and wine in what is essentially a large family picnic.
