Jaipur, The screening of Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Dilwale” faced opposition at many places across Rajasthan on Friday. Many groups protested the actor’s remarks on intolerance in the country.
Protesters under the banner of Jan Samsaya Nivaran Manch held a demonstration here with posters that read “Boycott Dilwale”. They requested viewers not to watch the film.
Following the protests, the first show of the film, which released across the country on Friday, was cancelled at some theatres, while tickets were sold at other theatres under police protection.
“In some cities, the first shows were cancelled while in others there were reports of burning of posters of the film and shouting of slogans against Shah Rukh Khan,” a police officer said.
In Bhilwara, VHP workers burnt the posters of the film and shouted slogans against the actor.
In Jodhpur too, Shiv Sainiks held protests at theatres and tried to prevent movie buffs from entering the movie hall.
Similar reports of protest also came in from Udaipur, Churu and Ajmer, besides other cities and towns.
