Patna, A video clip showing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visiting a tantrik to seek his blessings was released by the BJP on Saturday.
The BJP and its allies leaders targetted Nitish Kumar, saying he was promoting superstition and had lost his faith in the people.
Ruling Janata Dal-Unitd leaders hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the video clip was released in out of desperation as the BJP had sense its defeat in the ongoing five-phase Bihar polls.
The video clip was released on social media by senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and union Minister Giriraj Singh to embarrass Nitish Kumar, the chief ministerial candidate of the grand alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress ahead of the October 28 polls in the ongoing five-phase elections.
Ahead of the third phase of the Bihar assembly polls, the BJP appeared to have played a video card against Nitish Kumar, the star campaigner of the grand alliance, which is giving a tough time to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.
In the video, the tantrik is seen raising slogans in favour of Nitish Kumar and telling him not to be worried. He is also seen raising slogans against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad, once the arch rival of Nitish Kumar but now his main political ally in the Bihar polls.
Reacting to the video, Lalu Prasad, the former Bihar chief minister, told media here that he was a bigger tantrik than anyone. “I don’t care for such tantrik, I am bigger tantrik than any one.”
Nitish Kumar is yet to react to the video which has reportedly gone viral on social media.
JD-U spokesperson Sanjay Singh told media here that the video clip released by BJP leader is an old one. It has exposed the BJP’s desperation with reports coming that the grand alliance is winning the polls under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
Another JD-U leader Ajay Alok said the video clip is nonsense.
“BJP has come to such a level to play politics…BJP has no option but forced to resort to such silly things. Whether only BJP leaders have right to visit tantric or offer prayers?” he asked.
Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said video showed that Nitish Kumar had lost his confidence and faith in people.
BJP ally Hindustani Awam Morcha president and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said socialist leader like Nitish Kumar was taking help of tantric. But nothing would help him now.
Lok Janshakti Party chief and union minister Ram Vilas Paswan said superstition would not benefit him (Nitish).
Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Manoj Jha said BJP’s Giriraj Singh was indulging in “political pornography” after being pulled out of the party’s campaign trail, adding that the act of releasing a “pervert” video showed the nervousness inside the BJP’s camp.
“Giriraj Singh has been told to resort to all sort of political lows to save the party from an imminent defeat. The act is nothing but a political pornography,” he added.
