Seven masked men robbed Rs.25 lakh from a dry fruit merchant’s shop in broad daylight Monday and stabbed an employee who resisted them, police said.
The daring incident, which got over in 20 minutes, took place around 4 p.m. in Khari Bawli in Old Delhi.
“The masked men entered Suresh Chandra Mittal’s shop and grabbed the cash after typing the hands and legs of the shop employees at gunpoint,” said a police officer.
At the time of the incident, Mittal was in the shop with four employees. The robbers fled after committing crime.
One employee, Om Prakash, was stabbed on his hand when he tried to resist the robbery bid, said the officer.
Later, the employees untied their ropes and called police.
Police said they were probing the incident from all possible angles. “We are not ruling out an insider’s role,” a source said.
