The Hindu Council of Australia together with the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies commemorated the Indian soldiers in their second annual Haifa Day held in SP Jain School of Global Management. Haifa Day honors the liberation of the city of Haifa in 1918 following the valour and cavalry action by India’s 15th Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade. The event was marked by lighting the lamp before Lord Ganesha and remembering the immortal souls who sacrificed their lives to liberate the Israeli port city of Haifa. During the battle of Haifa in September 1918, the Indian troops fought with immense cavalry skills and heroism.
The second annual Haifa Day event, this year focused on ‘Youth networking’ from both communities. The event was attended by prominent dignitaries and community members. This day reminds us of strong Indo-Jewish friendship and amity.
