Health Minister Jillian Skinner today announced $800,000 to plan the next stage of the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital redevelopment.
Mrs Skinner was accompanied by Member for East Hills Glenn Brookes as she toured the hospital’s emergency and ambulatory care departments and met staff and patients.
“It is always a pleasure to visit Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and to meet the skilled and hardworking staff,” Mrs Skinner said.
“They deliver the highest quality care to patients and deserve to do so in an environment which equals the standards they set. So I am pleased to announce today that the NSW Government has committed $800,000 to plan the redevelopment of Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.”
The redevelopment will include expansion of:
- acute service zones
- ambulatory care
- cancer services
- mental health accommodation
- operating theatres
Mr Brookes said: “I was born in this hospital, my children were born in this hospital. My commitment to it has been long-standing, which is why I am delighted the NSW Government has committed this funding to plan for a future redevelopment.
“Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital serves a vibrant and growing community in south-western Sydney. I am proud to be a member of a Government which is so committed to upgrading our hospitals and delivering the highest standard of clinical care.”
Mrs Skinner today announced funding totalling $2.4 million for planning for future hospital redevelopments in western and south-western Sydney.
As well as the $800,000 for Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, the NSW Government committed planning money to Campbelltown Hospital Stage Two ($800,000) and Blacktown Hospital Stage Two ($800,000).
