TIMES NOW AND ICICI BANK PRESENTS YET ANOTHER SUCCESFUL YEAR OF NRI OF THE YEAR AWARDS

With their grit and perseverance, Non Resident Indians have achieved tremendous success in various fields in the countries they have chosen to adapt as their homes. Many NRIs are accomplished politicians, scientists, sportsmen, businessmen, professionals and academicians in various countries.
To recognize the successful Indians globally and to celebrate their achievements, Times Now, India’s popular English news channel from Times Group, India’s largest media conglomerate and with a presence in over 75 countries announced its new international initiative awarding the successful NRIs around the world an year back.
NRI OF THE YEAR award is open to any Non Resident Indian (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian origin (PIO) who has resided in USA, Canada, Singapore, UK, Middle East including Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait and introducing more countries like Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Hongkong and Thailand.
The Awards are given in 6 different categories – Entrepreneur, Professional, Academics, Arts & Culture, Philanthropy, Special Jury Award, Popular Choice Award and India’s Global Icon Award.

The second edition of the awards function was attended by a distinguished audience of NRIs from over 12 countries, heads of international businesses, Bollywood actors, including Jay Bhanushali, JackkyBhagnani, IshaKoppikar, the winners of the fbbFemina Miss India 2015 pageant, CEOs and businessmen.

Indus Age, Australia was glad to be the official media partner and a jury member of such an event.

The awards in their 2nd edition reached a new high having received big international presence and online recognition. Besides, SRK, the Special Jury Award winner was Indian-American Executive and now CEO at Microsoft, SatyaNadella.

To be honoured for their role in academics and winning the Special Jury Awards were VallamkondaNagamaniTeja (Asia Pacific), KehkashanMaushumBasu (Middle East) and SarthakSinha (North America). The awards were won by 16 individuals under seven different categories — Entrepreneur, Professional, Academics, Art & Culture, Philanthropy, Special Jury Award and India’s Global Icon Award. The achievers were contestants from four global regions — North America, the UK, Middle East and Asia Pacific. Those who have won in the Professional category included AnjuJaswal (Asia Pacific), Dr. RahavanSeetharaman (Middle East), Subhash Chandra Basu (North America) and GauravAtreja (UK). The others to win the coveted awards included Bharat Kumar Jayantilal from Middle East, Dr Asha Seth from North America and Manjit Singh Nijjar from UK (for Philanthropy). In the Art and Culture section, TriptiMukherjee (North America) clinched the top honour. Those who emerged as Best Entrepreneur were Harindarpal Singh Banga (Asia Pacific), ArunAgarwal (North America) and Dr Ravi Pillai (Middle East).

The awards were given by ChandaKochhar, MD and CEO, ICICI Bank, Bollywood Stars and jury members. On this occasion, cartoonist SudhirDhar released a commemorative art of an NRI. The evening saw a dazzling performance by UshaUthup and was hosted by Tisca Chopra.
