The Star Australian Badminton Open 2015 ***Player Announcement Launch***

unnamed The Star Australian Badminton Open will officially launch with the

announcement of the 2015 player line-ups at a VIP media event at The Star

on Tuesday April 21.

The Star Australian Badminton Open (ABO) tournament is the first

Superseries competition awarding ranking points to qualify for the 2016 Rio

Olympics. With a prize pool of US $750,000 up for grabs, combined with the

critical Olympic Qualifying points, the ABO has drawn a stellar line-up of the

biggest names in badminton to battle it out in Sydney from May 26-31.

A pop up badminton court will be in place at The Star for film/photo moments

with a city skyline backdrop.

–including 20-year-old pro Gronya Somerville*, Australia’s No.1 women’s

doubles player -along with representatives from key partners and sponsors

will come together to officially launch the 2015 The Star Australian Badminton

Open.

Some of the big name players who will be confirmed as heading to Australia

for the ABO tournament in May include; current two time Olympic Gold

medalist and five times World Champion, Lin Dan (China), current world

No.1 and current world champion, Chen Long (China) and Australian Open

Superseries defending women’s singles champion and current World No.1

Saina Nehwal (India).
