Ministry of Tourism, Government of India with the Indian
Association of Tour Operators organised a Road Show at
various places in Australia and in New Zealand.
The Incredible India Road show kicked off at Sydney’s Four
Seasons Hotel on March 16, with media and travel
professionals learning about the potential growth in India’s
appeal as an incentive and conference destination.
Attended by Sunjay Sudhir, Consul General of India, Sydney,
and Girish Shankar, Additional Secretary Ministry of
Tourism, Government of India, India Tourism highlighted
the benefits of the new visa process for both individuals and
groups.
The new online visa means visitors to India from 43
countries including Australia will no longer have to queue at
their local consulates to obtain visas.
“It is a much more simplified process,” said Shankar.
India’s profile has also been boosted by the Best Exotic
Marigold Hotel films, the latest of which has just been
released worldwide, according to Shankar.
The event in Melbourne was held at the Langham Hotel on
17 March 2015. Around 25 tour operators from India
interacted with local tour operators in a B2B
meeting. Considerable interest in Indian tourism
destinations was during this B2B meeting. Mr. Girish
Shankar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism gave a
presentation on the latest insights with regard to Indian
tourism. There was also a brief interaction with
media persons.
The remaining roadshow event was also held in Auckland,
New Zealand on Thursday, March 19 at The Langham
Auckland.
