A 25-year-old school teacher has been arrested on charges of molesting schoolgirls in the city, police said on Saturday.
The incident was reported from a private senior secondary school in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area where the accused is posted as a computer teacher.
Police said that victims’ family members approached them on Saturday morning after the accused, identified as Vinod, tried to molest three schoolgirls inside a classroom on Friday.
Two of the victims could not muster the courage to inform their family, but one of them shared her ordeal with her parents who then approached the school administration and later the police.
The accused has been arrested and booked on charges of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
One of the victim’s parents told IANS that the accused used to touch their daughter and other schoolgirls inappropriately.
Several attempts to contact the school’s principal over phone proved futile as she did not respond to the calls.
The victim’s family also staged a protest against the Delhi police at Anand Parbat police station when the officers initially refused to register the case.
