Two children suffocated to death here after the television set in their room overheated and smoke from the melting plastic filled the room, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday night in Khoda residential colony bordering Delhi, when the boys, Lucky (4) and Ishu (2), were watching television.
Their mother is a vegetable vendor and father a mechanic. They returned home late to find the room filled with dense smoke.
The room did not have any ventilator, and the children became unconscious while asleep.
The parents found their children lying unconscious on the floor and rushed them to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
The bodies were taken for autopsy and later handed over to the family for cremation, police said.
