Panaji, Nov 23 A three-member police team Saturday left for New Delhi to collect evidence in connection with the rape case filed against Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal.
The team will visit the Tehelka head office in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash area to obtain intra-office correspondence between Tejpal, managing editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury, and the victim, a junior employee of the magazine, the police sources said.
The victim claimed that Tejpal had sexually assaulted her at a Goa resort Nov 7 and 8.
“It has been more than 24 hours and we still have not received the victim’s complaint from Shoma despite an e-mail request Thursday evening. The team will also meet Tejpal to question him about the incident,” a Crime Branch official said.
The Goa chief minister and the state’s Director General of Police Kishen Kumar said Friday that Chaudhury had been stalling the investigation process by not sharing the complaint that the victim had sent her, intimating in detail about the sexual assaults.
“The attempt of the team will be to get this vital information,” the official said.
