This year’s Bikeweek is set to be one of the most diverse and exciting to date, with events ranging from a public art tour in Bunbury, to a comedy ride in Cambridge, offering something for everyone.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder said almost $30,000 in Bikeweek 2015 grants had been awarded for a range of events which would support and encourage people of all ages to get on their bikes.
Twenty-five events such as bike to work breakfasts, a coffee shop cycle crawl, and a pedal powered movie will be included in this year’s Bikeweek calendar.
“The successful applicants will receive grants between $500 and $2,000 to support and encourage people of all ages to get on their bikes and cycle to work, school, the shops or to just get out there for the enjoyment of the ride,” Mr Nalder said.
“Bikeweek 2015 will take place from March 14 to March 22, and celebrate cycling in Western Australia and the positive impacts it has on reducing traffic congestion and improving our health and wellbeing.”
Bikeweek 2015 is being co-ordinated by the State Government, through the Department of Transport, in partnership with WestCycle.
