Odisha approves industrial projects worth Rs.846 cr

Bhubaneswar, Jan 14 (IANS) The Odisha government Wednesday accorded in-principle approval to four companies to set up projects in the state with an investment of Rs.846 crore.

The companies would provide direct employment to more than 1,000 people.

The State Level Single Window Clearance Committee (SLSWCC) headed by Chief Secretary G.C. Pati cleared the four projects.

Uttam Infralogix has proposed to set up a cross country pipe conveyor from Odisha to Chhattisgarh, and a coal unloading and crushing facility at Baliamunda in Sundargarh district with a total investment of Rs.500 crore.

Out of the total investment, Rs.260 crore would be spent in Odisha, said Gagan Kumar Dhal, the CMD of the state-owned Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation Limited.

Major projects in Odisha are first examined by IPICL, and then sent to SLSWCC.

The construction of the conveyor belt would facilitate the transportation of coal through the pipeline. The coal would be transported from the Mahanadi Coalfield area within Odisha, he said.

The government also approved the proposal of Germany-based SMS India to expand its unit at Khurda for the manufacture of rolling mill equipment used in the steel industry. It would spend Rs.168 crore on the expansion.

The proposal of the Container Corporation of India Limited for the development of a rail linked container terminal and a logistic park at Muniguda in Rayagada district and at Paradip has also been approved, said Dhal.

He said the company has proposed to invest Rs.236 crore for the two projects in the state.

Purvi Bharat Paper and Power Limited’s proposal of establishing a logistic park and a solar power plant of 1.5 MW capacity at an investment of Rs.182 crore has also been approved by the SLSWCLC.

However, all projects would get final approval after examination of water and power linkage issues as per the existing regulations and provisions, added Dhal.
